How to Choose the Perfect Sailing Courses for Your Skill Level

Sailing Courses

Embarking on a sailing journey is an exciting process, and selecting the right sailing courses tailored to your skill level is crucial for a rewarding experience.

Here at Sailing Logic, we’re an RYA-accredited Sea School located in Port Hamble Marina, we offer a comprehensive range of sailing courses designed to cater to various skill levels, with the added advantage of easy access to the Solent—one of the UK’s premier sailing areas.

Assessing Your Skill Level

Before enrolling in a course, it’s essential to evaluate your current sailing experience:

  • Beginner: No prior sailing experience.
  • Intermediate: Some sailing exposure, familiar with basic terminology and boat handling.
  • Advanced: Extensive sailing experience, capable of handling various sailing conditions and navigation.

Choosing the Right Course

Based on your assessment, consider the following courses offered at Sailing Logic:

  • RYA Competent Crew: Designed for those new to sailing, this five-day course teaches the fundamentals of crewing, including seamanship and helmsmanship. Participants will learn to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, and assist in all the day-to-day duties on board.

  • RYA Day Skipper: Ideal for sailors with some experience, this course focuses on practical navigation and pilotage, boat handling, seamanship, and safety. Successful completion qualifies you to skipper a yacht in familiar waters by day.

  • Boat Handling Course: This course hones your skills in close-quarters manoeuvring, mooring, and anchoring, essential for confident boat handling in marinas and tight spaces.
