RYA Professional Practices and Responsibilities

The RYA Professional Practices and Responsibilities (PPR) course is an online self-study course and is a requirement for anyone seeking RYA Commercial Endorsement.

For individuals looking to work commercially within the sailing industry such as delivery skippers and crew, deckhands, RIB drivers, corporate skippers and harbour masters, it is important to be fully aware of the rules, regulations and conventions to which you will be expected to adhere.

Your self-study will cover the these 4 below modules;

• The Commercial Environment – How you fit into the maritime world
• People – Importance of manning levels, keeping skills up-to-date and safe management of commercial vessels
• Vessel – Carriage of maintenance equipment, risk control and operating procedures
• Purpose – Ensuring your vessel is suitable and legal for purpose, your obligations in protecting the environment, appropriate planning and situational awareness.

Format

8-10 hours of online self-study, plus online exam via the RYA Interactive website. Up to 3 practice assessments can be undertaken.  Email assistance and support is available throughout. On successful completion of the online course you will be provided with a downloadable RYA Professional Practices and Responsibilities certificate.
