Spinnaker Handling

Our two-day Spinnaker Handling training course is designed to specifically focus on the black art of handling a spinnaker!

Starting with how to rig a boat for using a spinnaker, the course will include lots of hoists and drops, as well as longer downwind legs to work on spinnaker trim and gybing. This includes setting the correct pole height, how far back the pole should be, main sail settings, use of tweakers and trimming. We’ll cover man overboard recovery under kite as well as discuss broaching, how to prevent it and recovery.

Throughout the two days, everyone will rotate positions to maximise learning opportunities. The course will be boat based and will start and finish in Port Hamble Marina in Hamble.  This course is suitable for anyone who is looking to gain confidence in using a symmetrical spinnaker whilst sailing or racing.
